Penny Drop is a brand new promotion for 2012 formed by veteran podcasters Fresh:Mesh and Def Bond (BeauFighters).

Their unhealthy passion for cutting edge Deep Disco Tech Progressive and Electro house brings together some of London's undiscovered and up and coming DJs in a fun, friendly and intimate environment.

All roads lead to Stokey’s buzzing “strip” on Saturday 26th May when Penny Drop returns to the Moustache Bar for their second basement bash of 2012. Sporting a DJ lineup of local heroes of the highest calibre, this is a FREE party you will not want to miss!

Moustache Bar parties are infamous for their late finishes, we're not exactly sure when this one will end!

DJs:

Hayley Martinez (Electric Parade)
Sean Branton (Motion-1)
GrahamG (Electro Junky Records)
Jack Sawyer and Ben Davis (Reverb)
BeauFighters (Penny Drop)

Hayley Martinez:

First and foremost an underground house music lover with an obsession with gritty dirty house music, Hayley’s knowledge of house music is very apparent. She meticulously chooses the right music for her sets and has a real knack for putting together perfectly programmed mixes.

Hayley has recently created a brand with Jay Francisco called Electric Parade, and has been playing her bassline and deep house sets to appreciative crowds around Shoreditch and Dalston.

Sean Branton:

The London based DJ, Producer and founder of successful London Promotion Motion-1 is really finding his feet at the minute. He regularly plays at the biggest clubs in London including Ministry of Sound (103), the main rooms of Pacha and Egg, and has recently performed at Air (Birmingham – home to Godskitchen) and the H Bar in Brighton.

Sean has been involved in star studded line ups that have included Nic Fanciulli, Dennis Ferrer, Matthias Tanzmann, Layo & Bushwacka, Solomun, Alexis Raphael, Guy J, Sebastian Leger, Manuel Da La Mare, Dave Spoon and the Hoxton & Whores.

Sean truly loves what he does. Behind the decks or in the studio it’s clear that DJs don't come any harder working than Sean. Sean knows what he wants and his hard work is paying off as his production skills go from strength to strength.

Having already hosted sell out nights at Pacha, Egg, Club 7878 and Thames Boat Parties the success of Sean’s forward thinking brand, Motion-1 is set to continue. Watch out for many more exciting Motion-1 parties and events coming up this year and be sure to keep your eye out for Sean's productions and future gigs.

GrahamG:

A young and talented DJ, remixer and producer from South London with a big heart who not only loves to party but also gets satisfaction from making people dance and watching them rave out.

A DJ since the age of 13, Graham can mash together electro, dubstep, drum and bass, indie and pop to create killer sets that will make bass bins go boom and shake the room.

Graham’s hard work in the studio produces superb remixes and edits tailor made to drop in his live sets. His passion for the latest DJ gadgetry shows in his performances as he remixes and re-edits tracks on the fly.

He recently admitted to us “I love to use all the techy stuff for DJing, it’s a bit geeky I know but I do crazy stuff with it in my sets”

Jack Sawyer:

Jack has been collecting records & DJing for over a decade now. What started out as a hobby has turned in to a love of all music, but especially House Music.

Over the last few years Jack has thrown himself into the scene and his passion and hard work has paid dividends. A residency with one of London’s popular underground house promotions “Reverb” and sets alongside revered DJs and artists including No Artificial Colours, Waifs & Strays and Davide Squillace.

With bookings in the calendar from Cadre Movement, Connected, Threaded, Retox & Motion-1 to name but a few, 2012 is going to be a great year for this talented up and coming DJ.

Ben Davis:

Ben had been dabbling behind the decks for a number of teenage years when he decided to get serious in 2010.

Two years on and Ben has flown from the dance floor and into the booths of bars and clubs in and around London. Also a Reverb resident, Jack has played at some of the capital's best clubs alongside big artists including Jorden Peak, Huxley and Davide Squillace.

Recently taking to the studio, watch out for forthcoming productions from this new but serious DJ.

Beaufighters:

With nearly 15 years of DJing experience between them the Penny Drop founders have long had a passion for Disco Tech Progressive and Electro House.

Each have their own unique approach to DJing, but when their individual tastes in music are combined they create dynamic sets that are full of surprises and cheeky effects.

Since February this year, Progress have been furnishing discerning dance music lovers ears with the very best underground tech / progressive / electro house, breaks and techno.

Saturday 19th November will witness the 4th outing for Progress this year. A winning formula of the highest quality hand-picked DJs mixed with an element of fun has made each event more successful than the last and this night will be no exception.

The Progress team are very excited to bring the unique underground sound of La Gosse (Eukatech Records UK) to the Raving Buddha, and to add some fun we have chosen the theme of Sportswear / Tracksuit / B-Boy, (think Goldie Looking Chain with a touch of class).

La Gosse:

Born in Marseille in the south of France but now residing in London, La Gosse literally means The Kid and she says this describes her exactly. When you meet La Gosse and experience her enthusiasm, fun nature and spirited passion for her music and her craft youll understand. Its infectious!

Support DJs:

Charlie White:

Rising star Charlie White is hot property right now. Fresh back from a summer on the white island, Charlies popularity as a solid forward thinking and creative DJ has already secured him performances at Ministry of Sound, Buddha Lounge, Viva Ibiza and EGG.

Taking his influence from Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Danny Daze, Lee Foss and Kerri Chandler, Charlie is the master of the deep bomb.

Sean Branton:

London based DJ/Producer is really coming into his own as of late. He really enjoys what he is doing, which shows when he is behind the decks.

Sean regularly plays in some of the biggest clubs in London including Pacha, EGG and Ministry of sound and has been involved with some big line ups including Ministry of sound 20th birthday party (with Dennis Ferrer, Nic Fanciulli, Matthias Tanzmann and Alexis Raphael). He has joined the most respected names on the Thames boat parties, with the likes of Dave Spoon, Manuel De La Mare and many more.

Sean has since started his own night called Motion which he is working smaller venues and building from there. Sean is very confident about this night. Sean is yet to release his own tracks. However, be sure for something big when he does.

Progress DJs (Residents):

Our residents Def Bond & Fresh:Mesh are teaming up once more to deliver another one of their highly charged back to back performances (recently described by a leading london promotion as Amazing.). Their outing to Ministry of Sound on October 1st (supporting Dubfire, David Squilliace, Mark Fanciulli and Glimpse) resulted in a roof raising closing set which received encores from a crowd that were stunned but ready for more. An experience they will be keen to repeat.

The Venue:

Raving Buddha
77 Goldhawk Road
London W12 8EG
(30 secs from Goldhawk Road tube, nr. Shepherd's Bush Green)

Raving Buddha sports a full Funktion 1 soundsystem and a great selection of pub price drinks. Recently taken over by Paul Jack, the brains behind many of Londons largest warehouse parties, Raving Buddha is situated on the former site of the British Prince pub. The £27,000 soundsystem install coupled with an ideal 160 person capacity makes this venue the perfect home for Progress.

Main Room Lineup:

Monkey Mafia (DJ Set)
Screendeath
Kry Wolf
Eddy Temple Morris (Resident)

Jon Carter, one of the ’90s dance scene’s most-important DJ/producers, has rebooted his much-missed Monkey Mafia project, with a cavalcade of new edits and original productions set to be unleashed.

As one of Heavenly Social’s residents, alongside fellow hell-raisers The Chemical Brothers and Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas), Jon quickly acquired a rep for his devastatingly roughneck sets that weren’t afraid to mix everything from tough hip-hop to strobe-lit house and techno. Working under the Monkey Mafia alias, he cut several big beat classics that still stand the test of time today! And now he’s back, with a glance at Carter’s Soundcloud page revealing a selection of tasty new tracks that push his dancehall influences into new terrain.

“The timing seems right,” Carter commented. “I've been making tracks for sets lately — just things I'd like to hear. I've always let my love of dancehall reggae and dub and hip-hop influence my music, and so the tunes were very similar in flavour to Monkey Mafia.”

Jetting in from Ireland is Screendeath aka Ryan Thompson. Arriving in early 2009 with a set of impressive set of remixes, his name began to spread across the internet. Impressive remixes for both Monarchy, We Have Band and Andy Caldwell across the New Year garnered him several ‘one to watch” tags for 2010 then it was back to producing original material. This swiftly led to the “Packback” EP which was quickly snapped up by Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried imprint after being picked up and played by the likes of Fake Blood, Zinc, Boy 8-Bit and more. Alongside picking up national radio play from luminaries such as Annie Mac , Kissy Sell Out and Jaymo & Andy George, 2011 is already shaping up to surpass this from all angles.

A second EP from Southern Fried deep in the works, several more releases planned on a number of labels soon to be revealed coupled with impressive remixes for The Japanese Popstars and Les Gillettes mean 2011 is Screendeath’s for the taking.
Kry Wolf are fast becoming recognised as one of the UK's big underground players due to their distinctively creative and varied production style and consistently strong releases. The duo are also behind some of the biggest parties ever thrown on the south coast through uber brand Sumo, not to mention putting out some of the freshest new talent on their own label Sounds of Sumo.
Obsessively putting in the studio hours, their productions have ranged from house, garage, tech, funky to experimental as they continually refuse to be pigeon-holed. With names like Zinc, Mary Anne Hobbs, A-Trak, Sub Focus, The Martin Brothers, Mosca, AC Slater, Dave Spoon, Buraka Som Sistema, Lil Silva and Roska dropping their tracks, the word of the Wolf is spreading fast.
Regular residencies at some of the south coast's biggest club nights, a spot at Fabric, two Bestival performances and production work for labels a-plenty, the boys are keeping pretty busy!

Rounding things off every week will be our resident, XFM’s Eddy Temple-Morris. Where do we start? This is a man who has been at the forefront of new music for his entire career. He is host of Xfm’s legendary (10 years running and twice Sony Award nominated) dance-rock crossover radio show, The Remix. With his band Losers he’s remixed everyone from The Prodigy to Placebo, he’s hosted Remix Allnighters at SEOne and Matter and was the first host/resident at the inaugural season of Ibiza Rocks. Eddy has appeared on MTV 2’s Gonzo and all manner of TV and radio shows across the BBC, MTV, Channel 4, ITV, Five and also does the odd voiceover!

In his role championing new music he has discovered the likes of 2manyDJs, Simian Mobile Disco, Kasabian, Justice, Alex Metric, Fenech Soler, Sub Focus, Pendulum (We’ll stop there as this list could go on all day). If ever there was a man born to be Get Loaded resident, it’s Eddy Temple Morris!

*** Darryl Green ***

"We think he will be blowing up in the next few months" is what Robbie Rivera quotes about Darryl Green.
At the age of just 21, this London & South-East Essex based house producer & DJ is determined to be the next big thing in the House scene. The Beginning of 2010 saw Darryl start to get into the studio; the first track he produced was ‘Verano’ which was signed by the Hoxton Whores onto their label ‘Whorehouse’. After 'Verano' Darryl created a massive progressive house anthem called 'El Caballero’ and it was picked up by the world famous Miami based house DJ and producer, Robbie Rivera. Mr Rivera loved it so much that he signed it to his label 'Juicy Music' and had Zoo Brazil & Dero do remixes for it. Darryl’s first tech house track 'All You' was signed to Smartie Parties label 'SP Trax' and it climbed all the way to Number 1 on the Tech House Top 100 on Trackitdown.com through support from top DJ's such as Roger Sanchez.

2011 has already kicked off to a great start. Darryl was asked by Robbie Rivera himself to do a remix of his classic track 'Escape' which was featured on the front of Beatport.com and was played numerous times on Capital FM (UK) by Andi Durrant. Aswell as this Darryl had two tracks played on Tiesto's Club Life; 'Scatto' was played in Episode 202 and the George Acosta mix of Darryl's track 'Fresco' was played in Episode 203. After the success and great review's Fresco recieved, Robbie Rivera once again asked Darryl to do a remix of a classic track of his... Only this time Darryl did the remix as a collaboration with Robbie for release on the world famous US dance label 'Ultra Records'. Darryl has lot's of great releases and remixes coming soon, including his debut Vocal track featuring the beautiful Vocals of Shena. Be sure to check out all his social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook & Soundcloud for his latest tracks and news.

*** Tim Cullen ***

As with any top DJ these days, it’s hard to pigeon-hole someone into one specific sound/genre, but Tim’s sets would perhaps be best described as ‘chunky tech-house grooves, spliced with main room progressive house synths’. This warm, uplifting and energetic sound has earned him regular guest appearances at London’s biggest and most well-known clubs, from the legendary Ministry Of Sound and Pacha through to sets abroad in Poland and Ibiza. With such an impressive catalogue of performances, he is often seen playing alongside many of the World’s most respected names, including Paul Oakenfold, Dave Spoon, Judge Jules, Jonathon Ulysses, Sister Bliss, Hybrid, Tom Neville, Luke Dzierzek, Audiojack, A Skillz, Sam Ball and D Ramirez.

Now one of London’s fully established DJ and Producers on the electronic music scene, Tim is a highly respected producer and remixer. With a CV and track record anyone would be proud of, it’s no surprise that Tim commands respect wherever he goes.

Tim has recently shown his diversity but taking to the air-waves. His weekly radio show on the legendary London station – Passion FM is going from strength to strength. You can catch Tim every Wednesday 4pm-6pm at http://www.passionfmlive.com/

http://www.facebook.com/djtimcullen

*** Hemisphere ***

These two guys need no introduction. We know them as Elliot Bolton and Stewart Cook and you know them as Hemisphere . Hemisphere is a collaboration of Elliott Bolton aka DJ Anthony Bolton from the UK and Stewart Cook aka Diputs from Australia. They met in June 2010 playing on the same night for Plastic Fondu at Ministry of Sound and became firm friends straight away.

In July 2010, Hemisphere was born, bringing their Progressive, House and Trance to club nights around the UK playing at venues such as The Gallery at Ministry of Sound, The infamous Electronic Sessions Boat Party, Retox with Above & Beyond at the O2 Brixton Academy in London, Brixton Jamm, London, Frenchs, Eastbourne to name a few. 2010 was an amazing year for this duo after forming mid way through the year and it only got better seeing the year end out in style playing The Gallery Christmas Party at Ministry of Sound for Retox and the Electronic Sessions NYE Boat Party on the Thames with Jon O'Bir.
The start of 2011 Hemisphere have played warm up sets for Retox alongside Australia's #1 DJ tyDi and Ibizian House legend Pete Gooding for there residency at Tempo Eterno. Hemisphere have stamped there mark in the UK dance music scene with force.

They are very organic in their approach when playing to the crowds, interacting constantly and deciding what tunes to play on the nights to suit the fans best.Their mixing style is unique when performing both adding their own elements into a single mix to create a seamless set filled with effects, drops, build ups and big bass lines. Energetic and hard hitting, these two are set for great things to come. In 2011 they are looking to release their first tracks so keep an eye out for that.

With Hemisphere there is no horizon!

Aaron's mix will go Live on 16th April at 7am (UK Time) ....... you will be able to stream / download the mix from http://freshmesh.podomatic.com/ or from iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-fresh-mesh-podcast-...electro/id346434252

About Aaron .......

In just over a year of Djing Aaron is going from strength to strength! Building a good reputation for his tight flawless mixing and excellent knowlege and selection of tunes, he definitely knows how to read what the crowd wants.

After winning the Crash Manor Dj Competition in February last year year he then went on to become a weekly resident there playing progressive and tech trance for the night Crash @ Crash Manor which hosted many big name DJs including Guiseppe Ottaviani, Simon Patterson, Sean Tyas, Richard Durand and many more!.

Unfortunately the night shut down due to change in music policy but since then Aaron has begun to play regular all over the south west. He also earned a new residency now with a new up and coming night called Filthy Animal, a house night which is taking the South West by storm!

Aaron has also had recent regular gigs playing in the 103 bar and the Baby Box rooms of the world famous Ministry of Sound and a recent gig at the 02 Academy Brixton, both based in London While playing there he has played on the same lineups as big names like Markus Schulz, Andy Moor, Above and Beyond, Mauro Picotto, Mat Zo, Daniel Portman, Jaytech, Stefano Noferini and many more!

With big bookings already in the pipeline 2011 looks good for Aaron

Having grown up a "Rink Rat", DJ Sublime developed a love for all styles of music at an early age.

He has to give some major credit to Jeff Green (R.I.P) who was the greatest influence on his DeeJaying. Disco, funk, early electro, freestyle and hip hop are all huge influences and led him to discover house music at the tail end of the 80's / early 90's.

DJ Sublime began DeeJaying around '92 and a few years later found himself org...anising and playing at raves and EDM weeklies all over Atlanta. He did the rave thing til '03 and got into the clubs around then doing the top 40/rap thing.

DJ Sublime has held numerous residencies in the Atlanta area. Now he has rediscovered his roots and found again the music that started him on his musical journey 30 years ago.

Following on from the success of last year's guest mixes from Jules Dias (Cream Funk) and Tempo Eterno Residents The Hemisphere DJs, The Fresh:Mesh podcast is proud to present a short series of guest mixes featuring throughout April 2011.

The first of which will be from DJ Ben Tastic.

Ben's passion for music started out years ago jamming with friends to tunes on mobile phones, already he was pairing tracks in his mind but took it... no further at the time. Later he met a DJ/producer and began practising the art of scratching but not mixing tracks together ....... this would come later after fine tuning his ears by listening and watching DJs mixing it up at clubs and parties. Any time there was an off mix he would pick it up.

Ben started to mix with vinyl .... inititally with hard house. The friendly solid beats helped him to master his beatmatching skills. He already had a head start after watching DJs at the controls.

Since then, Ben has taken a journey through the genres, spanning UK Garage and Jump up Drum and Bass ..... the hardest you can find. Since his vinyl days Ben has embraced the plug and play simplicity and portability of contollerism, however his passion lies with vinyl despite having used using Serato and CDJs.

Ben has already undertaken sets at some choice venues including the renowned Brixton Jamm (Charlatans After Party) and has since been involved in local parties and festivals ..... playing house/electro, dub/dubstep and drum and bass .... the main source of his passion for mixing music.

Check out Ben's Soundcloud to get a flavour of his mixing style and his production work. A real treat for the eclectic ear!

★INFORMATION

What better excuse for a party, than to celebrate the birth of MARKUS SCHULZ - our superstar international resident. We don't want to give too much away, but look out for some VERY special surprises. Not forgetting the all important tunes, Schulz's driving beats providing a suitably banging birthday. It's been six months since we last saw ANDY MOOR, the Grammy nominated artist having recently embarked on a USA tour. With his AVA imprint still doing the business, we look forward to some of that Moor magic! Finally JONAS STENBERG rounds of the hard hitting bill, his chunky sounds indicative of a producer extraordinaire.

Anjunabeats' sister label host the 103 Bar, that's ANJUNADEEP celebrating the third release in their epic series. Expect the finest deep house, delivered by the awesome pairing of JAYTECH and label manager JAMES GRANT. A B2B duo worthy of any album launch. Then welcome MISS CRAZY D, her conventional crazy scenes given a slightly darker edge. Oh Yes!

★The Club

Ministry Of Sound is a world famous superclub that remains a stalwart of the London clubbing experience. With four bars, five separate rooms, three DJ booths and three huge dancefloors, Ministry is definitely one for the clubbing enthusiast.

One of the few remaining weekly club nights to have survived the test of time, The Gallery continues to fly the dance music flag in the capital of England, welcoming the biggest and best DJs from across the globe. Moving from its legendary home Turnmills in 2008 to the world famous Ministry of Sound, The Gallery continues to bring the biggest DJs and best up and coming talent from the worlds of trance, tech and house.

With Absent Kelly involved you can also expect an amazing live music line up on the night as some of the best bands from London and beyond will perform on the live stage, highlighting the talent that always follows Absent Kelly parties.
==========================================
New York band Vampire Weekend have embarked on an epic tour which began way back in February of this year right here in the UK and finishes in December having spent 10 months on the road and covering every corner of the Globe. With this party at Jamm the final week of the tour, you can imagine the intensity of feeling that will be found and without doubt, we know this is a party that will be talked about for plenty of time to come, not only by those on the dancefloor, but Baio of VW as well.

It is hard to find consolation in not being able to attend the live performance, but with tickets available for this party, there certainly is. With recent afterparties featuring DJ sets from bands including Groove Armada, Foals and The Charlatans all recently rocking the venue, I know that this night will not be any different.

A weekly adventure into the digital realm featuring choice electronic cuts from all over the dance genrescope. Breaks / Electro / House / Tech / Leftfield / Disco ..............

Tuesday 5th October 2010:

This week Jules Dias has very kindly put together a cracking guest mix featuring some hot new promos.

Jules is one of this year’s up-and-coming producer/DJs; a rising star who has worked with such artists as Red, Doctor, Footsteps, Cosmo & others. After gaining experience in Atlanta, Georgia & New York, he has finally returned to London to promote his work.

After six months his remixes and bootlegs gained the attention of one of the biggest publishing companies in London and now he is working with some of the most talented musicians and singers for his album.

Over the past year Jules Dias has broke into the club scene; in that short space of time his tracks have gained huge support from artists Fred Lilla, Mark Knight, Pierce Fulton, Kim Jon, Kim fai

What started off as a demo quickly became an underground anthem. Taking Soundcloud by storm, Jules' track ‘Remember me’ has gained him the title as ‘The one to watch for 2011’.

Plug those badass speakers into your computer, tune in and crack open a cold one. Click on this link: http://onlineclubber.com

============================================
MOVIDA: http://www.movidacorona.com/home/

Movida Corona is a European House Music DJ contest looking to find and promote up and coming DJ talent.

Following the success of last year's competition, the North London heats are being hosted again at Barrio North in Islington.

============================================
THE NIGHT:

This heat is being held at the Barrio North in Islington. "Barrio North has managed to create a venue that, despite its Latino flavour, fits into the Islington location perfectly with quirky decor, outstanding cocktails and service with a personal touch."

Check out some reviews here:

http://www.barrionorth.com/reviews.php

There will be 4 DJs on the night and each will play a 20 min set.

Judges will be provided by Movida Corona and the criteria will be based on:
-- tune selection
-- mixing ability
-- crowd reaction (SO I'M LOOKING FOR AS MUCH SUPPORT AS I CAN GET.)

No laptops, memory sticks, effects units, MC's, turntablists, duos or teams... just convential mixing using turntables/CDJs and mixer.

=============================================
COME ON DOWN:

I am sorry for the late notice but I only found out today that I had been selected to take part.

I've taken part in similar nights in the past and it really does make a difference if you've got a good handful of supporters in the crowd. It would be great if you could make it down.

I'm sure to be cutting loose with the help of a few of Barrio's outstanding cocktails........

I look forward to seeing you there!!

Hi Guys/Gals,

Last week I did something very rash, very rash indeed considering I have very limited knowledge of Music Production and software etc.etc. I entered a remix competition. Yup, and I've kinda surprised myself becasue I've made it through to the shortlist of 6 entries (out of almost 100).

For those of you that have been listening for a while, this is your chance to do something for me. After all, I've been putting mixes together for you guys for just over two years so I think it's fair to ask this small favour.

There's also some free music for you too..........

So, all I ask that is you follow this link: http://www.lesacvspip.co.uk/?p=1097

and vote for my remix............... the Fresh:Mesh "Z" Remix.......... simples.

If you want to have your own copy of the remix you could always download it here:

http://soundcloud.com/fresh-mesh/dan-le-sac-vs-scroobius-pip-great-britain-fresh-mesh-z-remix

but be quick because I'll make it stream only once the competition is over.

Thank you all for your continued support.... VOTING ENDS 3RD JUNE 2010.

Fingers crossed
